The Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, Tunç Soyer, met with earthquake victims who were hosted in the former Hilton Hotel building after the earthquake that caused destruction in 11 cities on February 6. Mayor Tunç Soyer, who listened to the demands of the earthquake victims, said, “I will do whatever I can by putting myself in your shoes.”
The Izmir Metropolitan Municipality continues to host earthquake victims who came to Izmir after the earthquakes that caused destruction in 11 cities. In order to solve the temporary housing problem of earthquake victims, the doors of the building used by the former Hilton Hotel, in which Izmir Metropolitan Municipality is a shareholder, were opened to earthquake victims with the approval of the large joint venture, Ata Holding. Mayor Tunç Soyer met with earthquake victims hosted in the former Hilton Hotel building at sahur (pre-dawn meal during Ramadan). Secretary General of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, Barış Karcı, the General Manager of IZELMAN Inc., Burak Alp Ersen, and bureaucrats also accompanied Mayor Tunç Soyer. 163 people are currently staying in 75 rooms in the former Hilton Hotel.

They never lacked a smiling face. They almost made us forget the difficulties we experienced and the pains of the earthquake. I thank Mayor Tunç and his team. I especially thank the people of Izmir.”
Vahdettin Bay, an earthquake victim from Malatya, said, “We experienced everything alive and suffered through very difficult situations. The help came very late. We have been here for one and a half months. We are satisfied. Thanks to our Mayor Tunç Soyer, who welcomed us and hosted us here. We thank him very much. God bless him. He opened his arms to everyone, hosted us here, and we are very satisfied. We are lucky to have come to Izmir.”
Ismet İpek, an earthquake victim from Hatay, said, “Everyone is very respectful from A to Z. God bless the mayor. Nothing is better than being healthy.”
Neriman Kaymak, an earthquake victim from Kahramanmaras, said, “We have been here for 40 days. We are treated very well.”
Hasan Yavuz, an earthquake victim from Adiyaman, said, “We have been here for 40 days. God bless the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. They provided food, clothing, tents, and food to all the villages in the mountains. They support both the earthquake victims there and here.”
