İrfan Karslı, the President of the Turkish Chinese Cultural Association, delivered significant remarks during an online speech at the “Advanced Seminar on Studying in China and High-Quality Development Practices” held in the Hainan province of China. The event, organized by Cucas (China’s University and College Admission System), saw the participation of representatives from 100 universities across China.
Karslı noted the rapidly increasing demand for international education among Turkish students in the current era where building an international career is gaining importance. Emphasizing the significance of international education in fostering a global citizenship mindset, Karslı stated, “Turkish students now understand that the path to success in the global market economy lies in getting to know different cultures and people. Individuals who cannot step beyond their own geography face difficulties in succeeding in a globalized world.”
Trends and Motivations in Foreign Education Preferences
Highlighting the growing interest in lucrative programs abroad, Karslı pointed out the factors influencing students’ preferences for international education. He mentioned that students generally prefer countries that are culturally close, have a high standard of living, low living costs, and offer opportunities for work and residence permits.
Advantages and Opportunities in Education in China
İrfan Karslı emphasized that China not only provides educational facilities but also accommodation opportunities, comparing favorably with the tuition fees of private universities. Furthermore, he pointed out that diplomas obtained from many Chinese universities, ranked among the best globally, are widely recognized.
Free Education Opportunities with Scholarship and Support Programs
Karslı explained that Turkish students have the opportunity to receive free education in China through various scholarship programs, including those offered by the Chinese government, provincial scholarships, and Silk Road scholarships. He added that some students also receive monthly living support of 2500-3000 Yuan in addition to free Chinese language education.
The information shared by İrfan Karslı in this seminar could serve as a strong motivation for Turkish students considering education in China. The experiences and advantages gained by students studying in China encourage the younger generation to adopt a global perspective.
