Before the Exhibition Idea, the Name “Talking Pictures” was Determined
Describing the origin story of Talking Pictures, Ru Ceylan said, “When we were working on the project, Selen Öztürk became the name mother of the project. While writing the stories, she started to say “These paintings are talking, let’s call it Talking Paintings”. And the name emerged even before the idea of the exhibition was formed. If they were alive today, I had the part. Who would this be if they were alive today? When I asked, names appeared. Some of them have a voice, some of them have a look, some of them have a professional stance. Some of them have a very personal side, a persona. This idea actually came out in this way.” İrem Helvacıoğlu emphasized that Ru Ceylan put the story she created into a voice and said that she was more excited about Medea. Alican Yücesoy said the following in the interview: “The important part for us is the point about acting. Honestly, that’s how I look at the texts. I mean, it’s a problem with the performance, with performing it. It can be with the voice. It can be about performing it live and in the flesh on stage. It can be all of them.”
