This week’s guest on Eylül Aşkın İle, hosted by Eylül Aşkın, was the young singer Tunacan Tuna. We discussed his latest single, in which he brings a fresh interpretation to the song “Katmer Katmer”, written by his father, the famous poet, lyricist, composer, and vocalist Aşkın Tuna, and originally performed by Lara. We also talked about his musical career.
“My parents’ marriage also happened through art.”
Tunacan Tuna, born to Aşkın Tuna and former presenter Pınar Tuna, shared the story of how his parents came together. Aşkın Tuna appeared as a guest on Pınar Tuna’s culture and arts program, where his charming conversation won Pınar Tuna’s heart. Tunacan Tuna, who describes himself as the “fruit of art and love,” expressed his happiness about this: “Growing up as the son of an artist father has given me so much from the very beginning.”
“I was a huge fan of Duman and Teoman.”
Tunacan Tuna, who mentioned that he was a dedicated fan of Duman and Teoman during high school, shared a heartfelt story about how his musical journey began. He recalled a moment while driving with his father, Aşkın Tuna, when he was humming a song. His father turned to him and said, “Son, you have such a beautiful voice! Should we maybe work on something together?” This marked the beginning of his musical path.
“Serdar Ortaç shared my song before his own.”
When Tunacan Tuna’s debut single Suni Teneffüs and Serdar Ortaç’s song İlaç were both released on the same day, Ortaç, at the request of the Tuna family, shared Tunacan Tuna’s song before his own. Praising Serdar Ortaç for this gesture, Tunacan emphasized that this act is the perfect example of how an artist should behave.
“I believe that every form of art complements one another.”
“I have plans in every field of art. One day you might see me in a movie, or in a series, and of course, my music career will continue. You might even find me working behind the scenes designing sets or costumes. I love every aspect of art, and I believe that all forms of art complement one another,” said Tunacan Tuna.
“I don’t see anyone as a rival.”
“We are each different colors in this industry, and I think we shine even more beautifully together,” Tunacan Tuna shared. He added, “We can see a fusion of East and West in music as well. I prioritize creating music that everyone can enjoy and that resonates with both influences.” He expressed his belief that he has successfully achieved this so far.
