“We believe that books will serve as a bridge between the two cultures.”
“Everything beautiful is universal and worth learning from each other. Different cultures can only grow through interaction and mutual learning.”
One of China’s largest publishing houses, Guangdong Publishing Group, in collaboration with Ayrıkotu Kitap, introduced two newly translated books from Chinese into Turkish at Penguen Bookstore in Suadiye. The launch event brought together authors, translators, book clubs, and figures from the literary community.
Ayrıkotu Kitap’s Editor-in-Chief, Aytaç Timur, emphasized the importance of cultural collaboration in his opening speech. Following this, Xu Yongbo, Deputy General Manager of Guangdong Publishing Group, expressed excitement about introducing Chinese culture and literature to Turkish readers. Xu Yongbo highlighted that the presentation of works by Wang Meng, former Chinese Minister of Culture, and Li Juan, one of China’s best-selling female authors, would be a significant part of the cultural exchange between the two countries.
Wang Meng’s latest novel, “Monkey and the Boy”, stands out as one of the significant works of modern Chinese literature, while Li Juan’s masterpiece in the essay genre, “The Distant Sunflower Fields”, explores the lives of people in the Xinjiang region with a profound and insightful style.
Xu Yongbo also stated in his speech: “We believe that these works will reach a broad audience in Turkey and contribute to strengthening the friendship between the two countries. Through books, we aim not only to share literature but also to build bridges of friendship.”
The launch event, attended by a six-person delegation from China, marked an important step in the literary interaction between the two cultures.
Published under the Ayrıkotu Kitap label, “Monkey and the Boy” and “The Distant Sunflower Fields” quickly found their place on the shelves.
