Hakan Sinangil, a graduate of Galatasaray High School and Marmara University’s International Relations Department, has shared his unforgettable bittersweet memories from his time as a lieutenant during his military service in Southeast Turkey between 1995-1996 with readers in his book titled “1382 – Son Mermi”. The book, published by Erik Yayınları, has now taken its place on the shelves.
Although 1382 Son Mermi focuses on a handful of civilians and soldiers struggling to survive in the midst of a brutal war, it offers readers numerous human experiences they can apply to their own lives. These include purification, positive thinking, transforming fear and anxiety into positive energy, connecting with their inner selves, listening patiently, calming emotions, and ultimately turning thoughts into rational actions under the guidance of higher intellect. The book serves as a guide for readers in navigating these experiences.
Sinangil reveals his military memories in a simple language in the book, while also showcasing all his personal struggles from various angles. “1382 – Son Mermi” encompasses everything, just like life itself, and discusses not only the conflicts experienced in the Southeast during that period but also the keys to resolving the wars we face within ourselves every day, at every moment, and the importance of refinement.
