Introduced to Music Thanks to Pink Floyd-Listening Parents
Inspired by The Division Bell album playing in his family home, Marnix decided to learn guitar at the age of 4. Due to Dutch regulations, he had to wait until age 6 to start lessons. His musical journey began with classical guitar training, and by age 14, he turned his focus to flamenco.
Engineer by Day, Musician by Night
Leading a double life, Marnix Alexander DuCroock works as a green engineer at a municipality during the day, where he decides on the type and number of trees to be planted in different areas of his city. By night, he performs on stage with his band in the Netherlands under the stage name El Holandaluz. He also embarks on two to three European tours per year, with his solo performances currently taking him outside of the Netherlands.
Aiming for More Vocal Collaborations and Festival Appearances
The musician expressed that one of his future goals is to diversify his instrumental music by collaborating with various vocalists, inspired by artists like Santana. He also shared his desire to perform at more festivals. Behind the scenes, the Dutch musician mentioned how important it is for him to introduce himself to audiences in Turkey and expressed a strong interest in performing there, stating that he is open to offers.
