The Balçova Municipality Sports Directorate organized football and basketball competitions for special young individuals during the Disabled Week.

In the basketball match attended by Mayor Fatma Çalkaya, love and friendship emerged as the winners.

Balçova Municipality, which has achieved successful work in the field of social municipalism by protecting the rights of disabled individuals and providing services to them, organized a special competition during the Disabled Week. The matches, in which young individuals with intellectual and mental disabilities played in mixed teams with sports teachers, were attended by Balçova Mayor Fatma Çalkaya and her husband Mehmet Ali Çalkaya. At the end of the basketball and football matches, watched by the families of the young individuals, love and friendship emerged as the winners.

Expressing that they constantly engage in activities to help disabled youth cope with life, Balçova Mayor Fatma Çalkaya stated, “We no longer accept the concept of disability in Balçova, because we overcome all these artificial barriers through solidarity. We organize activities throughout the year, especially to help our children and youth integrate into social life. Every time, our young individuals show us that they can overcome all obstacles when given the opportunity. We will utilize all our resources to ensure their happiness and success.”
