At Teknofest, Turkey’s first and only aviation, space and technology festival, Arçelik supported the Hackmasters Cybersecurity Competition organized by the Presidency of Digital Transformation Office with the solutions and scenario it developed for smart devices. Arçelik showcased its innovative technologies and cybersecurity solutions for smart devices at the Teknofest aviation, space, and technology festival. As a competition partner of the Hackmasters Cybersecurity Competition organized by the Presidency of Digital Transformation Office within the scope of Teknofest 2023, Arçelik prepared a scenario focusing on the cybersecurity of smart home appliances in the final stage.
Arçelik’s Cybersecurity Team intentionally placed IoT cybersecurity vulnerabilities in the software of white goods for the final stage, where 20 of the over 1,000 participants competed. The contestants competed to find these vulnerabilities in the final stage in order to win the competition.
Highlighting the importance of information technology security in an era where digital transformation is happening rapidly, Nihat Bayız, Arçelik’s Deputy General Manager Responsible for Production and Technology, said, “The number of internet-connected smart devices is increasing every day. Cybersecurity is a top priority, especially for household appliances such as white goods and robot vacuum cleaners that we frequently use in our daily lives. It is important that IoT devices are not controlled by others for their cybersecurity, that the data they produce is transmitted and stored securely, and that they are not used for other attack purposes. As Arçelik, we are working with great sensitivity on cybersecurity and aiming to protect our consumers’ data end-to-end. We are one of the first companies in the world to use Hardware Security Module, a special crypto chip for cybersecurity purposes in internet-connected white goods. Additionally, we produce white goods with many different advanced cybersecurity certifications internationally. We crowned our success in this field by winning the IoT Cybersecurity Championship of the Year Award by the IoT Security Foundation in the UK in 2018. With our innovative product portfolio, we are developing innovative and smart solutions for a more connected and digital world. We are pleased to support the Cybersecurity Competition organized by the Presidency of Digital Transformation Office with our solutions.
Arçelik showcased some of its innovative technologies at Teknofest. The stand, which exhibited built-in oven, dishwasher, camera-equipped refrigerator, robot vacuum cleaner, Android TV and small home appliances, attracted great attention.
Among the products exhibited at the stand, the camera-equipped refrigerator facilitates the tracking of materials through the HomeWhiz mobile application by seeing the materials with its two cameras. The built-in oven and dishwasher can be controlled via the Homewhiz application with smart wireless network connections. HobEx presents two products together with its hob-integrated hood technology, preventing cooking odors during and after cooking. The temperature sensor-equipped hood can automatically adjust its operating level according to the heat rate.
