Cerebrum Tech Founder and Chairman Dr. R. Erdem Erkul attended the Global Digital Summit organized by the World Bank Group, where he discussed how artificial intelligence will shape the future of the world and shared Cerebrum Tech’s journey in developing responsible AI products and solutions.
The Global Digital Summit, organized by the World Bank Group, brought together AI leaders from around the world. The event, held on March 18-19, 2025, at the World Bank headquarters in Washington, D.C., gathered representatives from the private sector, public institutions, and academia. Under the theme “Digital Pathways for All,” the summit explored the current state of digital transformation and facilitated knowledge exchange on transformative initiatives shaping the future.
Dr. R. Erdem Erkul, founder and chairman of next-generation technology company Cerebrum Tech, was the only participant from Turkey. He attended the summit as an invited guest of the World Bank.
During the panel titled “Artificial Intelligence Shaping the Future of the World,” moderated by Amy Doherty, Vice President for Information Technology at the World Bank, Erkul shared insights into Cerebrum Tech’s journey in developing responsible AI products and solutions.

Overcoming Complex Challenges with AI
“A responsible AI approach that combines innovation and ethics can help address some of the world’s most pressing and complex challenges, from mitigating climate change to ensuring justice and protecting sensitive information,” said Dr. Erdem Erkul in his speech. He emphasized that responsible AI usage ensures the ethical development and implementation of technology, playing a key role in areas ranging from data security to economic sustainability.
Highlighting the critical role of AI in combating misinformation, Erkul stated, “Developing AI-powered verification systems is essential to preventing the spread of false information and guiding societies toward accurate knowledge. Responsible AI policies can enhance access to reliable information in the digital world.”
Dr. Erkul stressed that AI should be developed with a human-centric approach, asserting that when responsible innovation is combined with ethical principles, it can serve as a powerful tool for addressing global challenges.
The panel featured prominent figures, including Wencai Zhang, Managing Director of the World Bank, Haja Salima Monorma Bah, Minister of Communication, Technology, and Innovation of Sierra Leone, Ravi Shankar Chaturvedi, Executive Director of the Digitaş Planet Research Platform at Tufts University, and Nelly Wilson, Global Director of AI for Weather and Climate Services at Google Cloud.
Inclusive and Sustainable Development
For the second year in a row, the World Bank Summit aimed to promote inclusive and sustainable development through digital transformation. With the belief that digital technologies can accelerate economic and social progress, the summit sought to bridge the income gap, eradicate poverty, and contribute to a more livable world.
The event also hosted distinguished speakers such as Ajay Banga, President of the World Bank, Makhtar Diop, Managing Director of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Sangbu Kim, Vice President for Digital Transformation at the World Bank, Mark Suzman, CEO of the Gates Foundation, Vivek Badrinath, Director of the GSM Association (GSMA), and Doreen Bogdan Martin, Director of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
In addition to panel discussions, the summit featured interactive sessions and exhibitions showcasing projects and solutions from leading global technology companies.
