Associate Professor Dr. Elvan Böke, Group Leader at the Genomic Regulation Center (CRG) in Spain, has been awarded the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) Gold Medal for her groundbreaking work addressing reproductive issues caused by cellular aging in women. Dr. Böke, who is the first Turkish scientist to receive this prestigious award, also won the Sabri Ülker Foundation’s 2023 Science Award for her research.
The EMBO Gold Medal, which recognizes excellence in scientific research and innovation in biology and medicine, was awarded to Dr. Böke for her work on egg aging, which is one of the major obstacles to fertility and late motherhood.
The EMBO Award is a prestigious accolade given by the independent organization European Molecular Biology Organization, known for promoting and supporting outstanding research in biology and medicine.
Dr. Elvan Böke’s Research Awarded by the Sabri Ülker Foundation in 2023
Last year, Associate Professor Dr. Elvan Böke was honored with a prestigious award from the Sabri Ülker Foundation in Turkey. In 2023, she received the Sabri Ülker Science Award, given annually by the foundation to encourage scientists in research institutions and support the presentation of research for the benefit of society.
The award was presented to Dr. Böke for her pioneering research on aging in egg cells and its implications for reproductive issues in women.
