Bambu Theater opened its season with the play 50 Meters High: Diving Into a Water-Filled Can from 50 Meters, written by Coşkun Irmak and directed by Han Ergin. The play will have its Istanbul premiere on Saturday, November 30th at 18:30, and its second Istanbul performance will take place at the Cihangir Workshop Stage on December 17th.
A circus clown, Pierre claims that he will dive into a water-filled can from a height of 50 meters wherever he goes. He is famous worldwide for this act. However, after an injury forces him to cancel his show, his door is knocked by his fan, Isabelle. Initially, Pierre is not receptive to the meeting, but after Isabelle’s insistence, he lets her into the backstage.
Isabelle and Pierre share their pasts with each other while also confronting the reality of their lived experiences. How much can the past help them in building their future? Will Pierre feel the excitement to perform his show again, thanks to Isabelle? Is everyone as they appear from the outside, or do we only see them as we wish to imagine?
Don’t forget to smile while pondering the answers to these questions!
