Veterinarians and technicians at Çankaya Municipality Stray Animals Temporary Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center updated their knowledge by receiving specialist training on Kennel Cough (shelter disease) and ultrasonographic examination. In the training, besides theoretical knowledge, detailed ultrasonographic examination was carried out at the bedside.

Academician physicians who are experts in veterinary medicine, Prof. Dr. Bugrahan Bekir Yagci and Dr. Instructor Member İbrahim Mert Polat gave training at the Çankaya Municipality Stray Animals Temporary Care and Rehabilitation Center, which is set as an example with its veterinarian, technicians, auxiliary staff and equipment. 6 veterinarians and 2 veterinary technicians attended the training.

THEORETICAL EDUCATION

In the theoretical training, the importance of ultrasonography in the practice of medicine, topographic anatomy of organs, their appearance and dimensions, comparison of healthy and pathological tissues, systematics of their measurements and clinical follow-ups were covered. In addition, detailed information was shared on issues such as gynecological operations, pregnancy diagnosis, and follow-up of healthy or pathological pregnancies, which constitute the most active workload of the shelters.

IMPORTANCE OF ULTRASONOGRAPHY

prof. Dr. Yagci and Dr. Polat emphasized the importance of effective use of ultrasonography in the field of veterinary medicine in private clinics as well as in shelters. Yağcı and Polat said that it is difficult for shelter veterinarians to know the previous illnesses and patient histories of stray animals. For this reason, Yağcı and Polat lost that the use of ultrasonography for stray animals on the way to diagnosis is essential in terms of revealing pathological conditions.

SHELTER DISEASE AND APPLIED ULTRASONOGRAPHIC EXAMINATION

In addition to basic ultrasonography, the most up-to-date clinical approaches in the world and in Turkey regarding Kennel Cough (Shelter Disease) disease, which is widely seen, were also evaluated in the training carried out by two experts. In the applied section, all physicians participating in the training performed a detailed ultrasonographic examination at the bedside.
