Ayşe Takı Gallery met Istanbul art lovers with artist Edibe Taylan’s solo exhibition “Carnival Fugitives” at the opening cocktail held on Saturday, March 8, 2025. This special exhibition, inaugurated on International Women’s Day, showcased approximately 50 works, including ceramic sculptures, acrylic and oil paintings, and digital artworks that the artist has created over the past 15 years, receiving great admiration from the audience.
With the “Carnival Fugitives” exhibition, Taylan reflects the joy and freedom of the carnival in her sculptures and paintings. Edibe Taylan stands out with her ceramic works, in which she intensely focuses on sculptural forms, alongside her acrylic and oil paintings and mobile art projects. This selection brings together the artist’s women-themed works in her unique artistic language, aiming to offer viewers an experience reminiscent of a carnival.

In Taylan’s interpretation, the concept of carnival goes beyond festivity and entertainment; it transforms into a liberated space where rules and hierarchies are temporarily suspended, and dominant beliefs and ideologies are satirized. The women in the artist’s paintings and sculptures, with their unconventional forms and exaggerated expressions, deconstruct the male-defined image of women. They are, in essence, dreamy carnival fugitives striving to make the carnivalesque eternal.
We invite art lovers to Ayşe Takı Gallery to experience and engage with Edibe Taylan’s unique works.
The artist’s solo exhibition, “Carnival Fugitives”, will be on display at Ayşe Takı Gallery until March 22, 2025.
