Aleyna Işık, Founding Partner of EDS-LOG Global Logistics, made a statement before March 8, International Women’s Day and said that women run from success to success in business life. Işık said, “Logistics is one of the sectors where women work most comfortably. Women have both a name and a place in the logistics sector. As a company, we believe in the equality of men and women. We think that the cliché ‘positive discrimination towards women’ actually humiliates women. No employee at EDS-LOG Global Logistics is given priority based on gender. We prioritize qualifications and knowledge,” he said: “Everyone, men and women, needs to equip themselves in business life. It is only a perception that logistics is a male-dominated sector. This perception must come to an end. “The logistics sector continues to grow both in Turkey and around the world. The global logistics market size was calculated as 10.68 trillion dollars in 2022. The volume of the logistics sector in Turkey is approximately 52 billion dollars. With e-commerce, the logistics sector has started to grow even more than projected. According to the Logistics Performance Index Report published in 2023, Turkey is in the 10th group among the countries with the highest score.
EDS-LOG Global Logistics Co-Founder Aleyna Işık, who said hello to the logistics industry with an internship, made a statement before March 8, International Women’s Day. Işık said, “When I first started in the sector, my senior managers said, ‘If you enter the logistics field, you cannot leave it again. It is a very tiring and stressful job. Either you give up from the beginning or you can never give up’ they warned me. When I first heard this, I was a bit scared and thought that I was getting into a stressful job. Actually, this is partly true… But the meaning of this sentence is that logistics has become a passion for people. I realized this in time.” Stating that stress is present in every sector, Işık said, “As time passes, you can solve stressful situations and feel this passion. For this reason, my only suggestion to my future colleagues is; never give up striving for yourself, improving yourself and continuing in the field of logistics if you see yourself suitable for this sector.”
LOGISTICS WILL GROW MORE WITH SUCCESSFUL WOMEN “I saw that logistics will always be a valid profession. According to my research, I decided to progress in the field of logistics because I thought it was a suitable profession for me,” said Aleyna Işık, Co-Founder of EDS-LOG Global Logistics, “I started business life in the field of logistics simultaneously with my stepping into university life. I concentrated on programs and certificate-based activities where I could improve myself. I took foreign language trainings due to the importance of foreign language in our sector. During my education period, I worked at an intense pace to improve myself on a sectoral basis. If I hadn’t tried to improve myself so much during my university life, I would have had more difficulties in my working life.” Emphasizing that the logistics sector will grow with successful women, Işık said that women should strive for their ideals.
Some women and men in the same position in some companies receive different salaries not because of their qualifications, but only because of their gender, Işık said, adding that he thinks these issues should remain in the old times. Pointing out that some of her female colleagues face family, community and peer pressure, Işık said, “Logistics is one of the sectors where discrimination against women is felt the least.” Regarding the low number of women in the sector, Işık said, “We have a significant number of female colleagues in the logistics, export-import and production sectors. The issue of the low number of women in the logistics sector is purely a perception and this perception needs to be broken. We encounter more female employees than male employees in our sector. In fact, we see female employers and female top managers in many logistics and manufacturing companies today. We are proud of the point our society has reached,” he emphasized.
