Evrim Art Gallery hosted the opening of Mehmet Kına’s exhibition titled “Keçileri Kaçırmadan Keçiler” on Saturday, November 30, bringing together art lovers. The opening cocktail event saw prominent figures from the art community and art enthusiasts gathering in celebration.
Artist Mehmet Kına shared the following thoughts about the exhibition:
“This exhibition consists of mosaic paintings that explore the process of living together with goats and humans. The Türkmen people, who originally lived alongside deer in Central Asia, transitioned to living with goats when they arrived in Anatolia. Since goats and deer share similar behavioral patterns, this transition was not difficult for them. The over a thousand-year-long process of living with goats has shaped the language and culture of the Türkmen people, and this is reflected in the artist’s works. For this reason, the titles of the artworks also reflect this situation.”
The exhibition features notable works such as “Sürüden Kaçan Tekeler” (The Goat that Strayed from the Herd), “Güvenlik” (Security), “Meyve Ağacının Keçilerle İmtihanı” (The Fruit Tree’s Trial with Goats), “Sarnıcın Başı” (The Head of the Cistern), “Yeni Oğlakla Kışlaya” (With the New Kid to the Barracks), “Torbalı Keçi” (The Goat in the Sack), “Gövde Kara Var” (The Body Has Black), and “Sağım” (Milking). This exhibition offers a unique opportunity to witness how mosaic art engages with goats. It also adds a new chapter to the history of goat representation in Anatolian archaeological mosaic panels.
Betül Ketenci, the founder of Evrim Art Gallery, emphasized her honor in hosting this special exhibition by the esteemed artist Mehmet Kına. She warmly invited all art lovers who wish to experience the highly acclaimed works to visit Evrim Art Gallery.
The exhibition will be available for viewing at Evrim Art Gallery until December 18, 2004.
