Young people in disaster areas will design smart and earthquake resistant cities of the future
GelecektekiSen, a technological talent development platform, has started a program that will train university students living in the earthquake zone to design smart cities of the future. Young people who graduate from the free program, whose applications will be taken between 18-31 March, will be directed to employment in the field of technology.
The earthquake disaster that affected 11 cities again revealed the change in the understanding of urbanism and the necessity of technology. A new urbanization model is needed for a safe and ethical structure, preventive systems in disaster management, and sustainable urbanism. The technological talent development platform, GelecektekiSen, is implementing a study that will make young people specialise with the ‘TechForGood’ program, ‘Technology for Good’. University students living in the region are preparing to grow up as talents to develop smart cities.
They will make disaster simulations
While technology is used as a lever in structuring the new understanding of urbanism, urban communities will be ready for smart urbanism on the basis of competence. Web 3.0 and new generation technologies will offer opportunities for the construction of smart cities, especially for the development of preventive measures in disaster management. The Metaverse environment will provide critical benefits, including blockchain-based systems for the development of transparent and reliable tracking and enforcement tools for building construction control mechanisms, while allowing space for city prototypes to be built and disaster simulations performed.
The TechForGood Program is designed to transform university students who are preparing for employment, especially university students studying at universities in the earthquake region and developing projects in the region’s technopolis, into technological talents with the potential to produce smart systems for the reconstruction of the earthquake region.
TechForGood Program invites institutions, especially technology companies, who want to support the development of the region, to support the #goodwilltechnology movement, while transferring knowledge and experience on how technology can be used for the sustainable well-being of communities and systems to young talents.
They will be trained for employment
Emphasizing that university students will gain knowledge on smart urban applications and technologies while gaining basic technology skills within the scope of the program, the Founder of GelecektekiSen İnci Abay Cansabuncu said: “Young people will come together with technology developers experienced in preparing for smart cities on Web 3.0 and develop smart city applications project. will be included in the development camp. At the end of the program, they will be trained as a web application developer, database specialist, data analyst, technology/platform strategist and directed to employment and summer internships.”
The program, whose applications will be taken between 18 March and 31 March 2023 on the GelecektekiSen website, will be held online between 3 April and 11 June 2023. You can get detailed information about the program and GelecektekiSen trainings at www.gelecektekisen.com.tr.
About GelecektekiSen:
GelecektekiSen is a technological talent training platform that works with the mission of preparing generations for the jobs of the future. While the TalentsForFuture arm works with the scope of a social enterprise to prepare high school and university students for the jobs of the future, the ExperienceForFuture arm, where it curates reskilling and upskilling for institutions and their current talents, provides a professional service to institutions. It prepares institutions for the future of their business through the transformation of their talent and the renewal of their working culture. Evaluates talent in its own life cycle.
It also designs special development areas for the parents of students within the scope of digital literacy and guiding the new generation’s digital future (ParentsForFuture). It has curations that combine technological skills (hard skills), social and cognitive skills (soft skills), bootcamps and experiential learning areas. The most fundamental value proposition of GelecektekiSen is the awareness and experience of the formation provided by the talents in terms of facilitating the preparation for the jobs of the future and clarifying the stops of the journey.
