The musical prodigy Genco Arı’s meticulously crafted 10-track album Prodüktör, which he calls the summary of his career, was released to listeners on Friday, October 25, under the Genco Arı Production & Bordo Müzik label.
In Prodüktör, an album that fulfills its mission both lyrically and musically, Teoman, Cem Yılmaz, Günce, Melek Mosso, Evrencan Gündüz, Büşra Pekin, Burcu Arı, Tepki, Fikri Karayel, and Göksel bring their unique styles to reinterpret various songs. Opening with an intro, the album features 10 artists, and Genco Arı has already started working on the second part of the project.
In this album, every sound was crafted from scratch, blending both electronic and fully analog elements. Personally involved in every detail, Genco Arı meticulously shaped Prodüktör, guiding listeners through an impressive musical journey that spans pop, rock, funk, and rap. Known for taking risks and achieving notable success, Arı explained that the album’s vibrant energy stems from the genuine atmosphere of the recordings and the artists’ skillful performances. Every sound on the album was created by him, with a mix of electronic and fully analog elements.
Continuing to draw attention with his unique work and the new dimensions he brings to music, Genco Arı opened Prodüktör with Günce, one of Turkish pop music’s powerful female vocalists.
Günce reinterpreted Yeter, a song originally performed by Sezen Aksu, with lyrics by Sezen Aksu and music by Atilla Özdemiroğlu, showcasing her remarkable vocal talent. In the performance video for Yeter, directed by Murat Tuncel, Genco Arı also joins Günce on screen.
“I demonstrated true producer skills.
Reflecting on his 30-year musical journey, Genco Arı shared his thoughts on the Prodüktör album:
‘Music is like a branch of chemistry. And, at the same time, entirely physics…
It’s a rare and intangible phenomenon that must be described and a unique form of communication. Music today is often molded to fit into certain patterns, like a ticking time bomb set to the desires of the industry and algorithms.
For a long time, we’ve missed out on global music because of a lack of quality and meaning. My biggest motivation for making this album was knowing styles, determining who best fits each style, creating sound designs, and ensuring that these creations connect with the right people and compatible energies.
A true music producer must have knowledge of composition, classical and jazz harmony, sound engineering and design skills, and the ability to establish relationships between styles—knowing which instruments complement each other on paper. One must also master the digital world, applying both the past and the present in theory and practice.
For example: knowing how to record a baroque string orchestra in a style suited for a band like Portishead, or how to create Daft Punk-style music from a pop-rock foundation. My belief in my country and people deserving such a project drove my decision to record this album.
The album contains various styles, sounds, and songs. I aimed to integrate them all into a cohesive album, demonstrating true producer skills.
Thankfully, I succeeded.
If only the word ‘Producer’ were as simple to understand as it is to write…
With respect and homage to Quincy Jones.’”
