Hulusi Kentmen Theater, founded by the unforgettable actor of Yeşilçam (Turkish cinema) Hulusi Kentmen in 1961 but could not be continued due to financial difficulties and his passing, has been re-established by his granddaughter Melek Kentmen to honor his grandfather’s legacy and keep his name alive. The theater, which is preparing to enter the season with the Yeşilçam Musical, will offer the audience a full nostalgia storm.
The play, written by Ferhat Uludere and directed by Cenk Yüksel, is among the few original Turkish musicals and not an adaptation. All performances will be carried out live with an orchestra by a crowded cast of twenty actors. The lead roles of the play are taken by famous singer-actor Cenk Yüksel, actress Damla Kocaoğlu, and one of the most beloved hosts and actors of TV, Gülay Özdem, who also directs the play. The choreography of the play belongs to famous dancer and trainer İzmir Tenim, and the Music Directorship belongs to famous musician Can Meter.
The play, sponsored by Axa Sigorta and Desa, will premiere in May and will be attended by leading figures of art, business, and society as well as unforgettable stars of Yeşilçam. The proceeds from the first play of the night, whose tickets will be on sale soon, will be donated to the earthquake zone, and in the ongoing process, regular donations will be made to the Mor Salkım Kadın Dayanışma Derneği from the proceeds of the play.
