450 young people from Turkey who participated in the International Youth Award Program received their certificates at the ceremony.
The International Youth Award Program, which is an individual development program for young people between the ages of 14-24, implemented in more than 130 countries around the world and represented by the Turkish Human Resources, Education and Health Foundation (TİKAV) with the support of Akfen Holding in our country, has entered its 19th year. The number of young people who participated in the Award Program, which has reached 20 thousand until today, reached 450 in 2022.
The International Award Program, which is carried out under the name of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, is rapidly expanding its scope in Turkey with the support of Akfen Holding in the representation of the Turkish Human Resources Education and Health Foundation (TİKAV).
The International Award Program, which aims to contribute to the individual development of young people between the ages of 14-24 all over the world with its Voluntary Service, Physical Development, Skill Development, Adventure and Journey of Discovery departments, has been implemented institutionally in Turkey for 19 years. The number of young people participating in the program exceeded 20 thousand by the end of 2022.
In 2022, a total of 450 young participants completed the Award Journeys and received their certificates at the Award Ceremony held at Novotel Istanbul Bosphorus Hotel on Wednesday, January 10, 2022. TIKAV Chairman of the Board Dr. Nafiz Turgut and Akfen Holding Board Member Pelin Akın Özalp and guests attended.
At the ceremony, certificates of appreciation were given to the School Principals who voluntarily supported the students in the Award Program, and to the Award Leaders and Supervisors who voluntarily mentored the participants.

TIKAV Chairman of the Board Dr. Nafiz Turgut, in his speech at the ceremony; Noting that the Award Program continues to grow and prepare more young people for life after the pandemic period, he congratulated the young people who were entitled to receive the Award and their families, Award Leaders, and Award Center managers.
Dr. Nafiz Turgut said, “I would like to express my gratitude to Mr. Hamdi Akın and Akın Family, Chairman of Akfen Holding, for their financial and moral support for the realization of the program. In this way; In the ever-evolving information age, it is possible to develop projects and provide social benefits to raise individuals who can adapt to innovations, respect social and universal values, are sensitive to the environment, and have social responsibility awareness.
CONTINUES ACTIVITIES IN 34 PROVINCES OF TURKEY
As of the end of 2022, the International Youth Award Program continues its activities in 34 provinces in Turkey with 151 active Award Centers, more than 8 thousand active participants, and more than a thousand active volunteers.
TIKAV, the Turkish representative of the Award Program, which focuses on benefiting the youth, represented Turkey in the GLOBAL Forum22 event in Cluj, Romania, in October, where the representatives of the Award Program from around the world came together with the participation of the President of the International Award Foundation, Prince Edward.
At the Forum22 Event, 8 Emerging Leaders selected to represent all countries included in the Award Program were introduced to member countries. One of the 8 Emerging Leaders was Aybüke Çalışkan from Turkey. Çalışkan, who was selected as the Emerging Leader, not only completed all 3 categories of the Award, but also contributed to the development of the Award in Turkey as a real volunteer.
The International Youth Award Program is known as the world’s leading youth program, implemented in more than 130 countries. All young people between the ages of 14-24 can participate in the program. Although participation is entirely voluntary, the Award Program aims to support young people to discover and develop themselves personally, to gain self-confidence and self-discipline.
To receive the Award, young people must engage in activities for one hour per week for the Volunteer Service, Physical Development and Skills Development departments and participate in Adventure and Discovery Journeys. It is noteworthy that the program, which reaches 13 million young people around the world, is considered the main selection criteria for admission to jobs and universities.

The International Youth Award Program was first started in 1956 under the name The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award in the United Kingdom with the support of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh; To date, it has reached more than 13 million young people in more than 130 countries around the world, and more than 20 thousand in our country. The program started in Turkey in 2003 as the “International Award Program”, a personal development program attended by young people between the ages of 14-24. In 2013, with the License Agreement signed with the British International Award Foundation, it started to be implemented under the name of “The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award-Turkey” (DoEIA-TR) in the representation of TIKAV. TIKAV is the only institution authorized to promote, implement, supervise and certify the International Youth Award Program in Turkey.
