The Museum Hotel Antakya, which has become one of the most iconic landmarks introducing Antakya to the world, reopened its doors on September 26 to bring renewed hope to a city devastated by the February 6, 2023, earthquakes. Recognized by The New York Times as one of the “52 places to visit worldwide,” the hotel’s new mission is to “revive life in Antakya.”
Following the earthquakes, Antakya suffered the most severe damage, but with repairs completed and all technical inspections finalized, the reopening of The Museum Hotel Antakya has become a beacon of hope for the city. With its opening on September 26, the hotel aims to provide employment for the region and revitalize social life and tourism.
We Did Not Give Up on Antakya; We Will Not Give Up!
Sabiha Asfuroğlu Abbasoğlu, CEO of Asfuroğlu Group Tourism Investments, expressed her feelings about the reopening of the hotel with the following words:
“Since that day, we have never given up on Antakya. After completing all structural and technical tests, we are experiencing the sweet excitement of reopening The Museum Hotel Antakya. This reopening is not just about a hotel; it signifies the revival of life, commerce, and tourism in Antakya.”
Abbasoğlu emphasized that the revival of Antakya is not only the responsibility of the local population but of the entire country, adding:
“We did not give up; we will not give up! Our greatest motivation when we started this project in 2009 was the contribution of The Museum Hotel Antakya to Antakya, our country, and humanity. Now, the mission of this hotel will be a symbol of life restarting in Antakya.”
