The Karşıyaka Municipality Council held an extraordinary meeting for the 1/1000 revised implementation zoning plan covering the final stage of the area of 108 hectares, which includes the Cumhuriyet-Örnekköy-İnönü neighborhoods. The plan, presented to the Council as it came from the Planning Commission, was unanimously approved by all members and decided to be sent to the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Council for approval. If approved by the Metropolitan Municipality Council, the plan will be implemented.
“A PLAN THAT PROTECTS EVERYONE’S RIGHTS”
Karşıyaka Mayor Dr. Cemil Tugay said, “There is a neighborhood, a region that has been built without planning and control for about 50-60 years. It has many problems in terms of infrastructure investments in its current state. To solve all these problems, citizens’ expectations have been determined for a long time through surveys, individual interviews, public meetings, etc. It is difficult to make a plan work that satisfies everyone and creates a consensus. A plan study was carried out with great effort to give people the maximum construction right that the laws allow and to meet their social facilities needs, taking into account the demands of the citizens. A new vision was put forward within the relevant legislation. This plan proposes spatial arrangements to solve housing problems and increase the quality of life in the region, and to ensure that property owners can continue to live in the region while protecting everyone’s rights and laws. I would like to thank all Council members who approved the plan unanimously.”
