The EOS R8 gives photographers all the tools they need to get creative with full-frame, and photo/video enthusiasts and students alike to take a leap in their photography passion.
Canon; Introduced the EOS R8, a new full-frame mirrorless camera that inherits the technology of the EOS R6 Mark II. Featuring a compact design, 24.2 megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor, high ISO and improved dynamic range, the EOS R8 stands out as an ideal choice for portrait, event and landscape photography, offering a wider and more artistic perspective.
Full-frame quality in a lightweight body
Offering all the benefits of full-frame image quality, the EOS R8 has a 24.2-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor that can reach the same resolution as the EOS R6 Mark II. Its fast readout enables the use of several enhanced features, including 40fps continuous shooting and less rolling shutter that offers low noise at high ISO speeds of up to 102,400. Thus, users can easily use it when shooting dimly lit and moving environments. Improved dynamic range also enables capturing stunning images with bold colours.
Weighing approximately 461g including card and battery, the EOS R8 is Canon’s lightest full-frame EOS R System camera to date. Measuring 132.5 x 86.1 x 70 mm, the camera packs other professional-level features in its compact body. The intuitive interface makes it easy to use the camera on the go, with a convenient mode dial with 12 modes for shooting stills and video, and a dedicated button for switching between stills and video.
Capture life in action
The EOS R8’s enhanced sensor can record full-width 4K 60p footage over-sampled from 6K sensor data for clear and detailed video content, as well as 180fps Full HD recording for slow-motion videos. To support those looking to improve their video skills, this camera supports Canon Log 3 in 10-bit YCbCr 4:2:2 H.265 internal recording, which offers wider dynamic range and greater flexibility in post-production. Alternatively, those using the HDR workflow can select the appropriate HDR PQ and HDR Video modes and produce bare HDMI output to compatible devices. The EOS R8 prevents focus interruption in motion recording, thanks to its function that compensates for changes in the angle of view while adjusting the focus distance. It also offers up to twice as long recording times as normal video capture, making it an ideal option for vlogging or event shooting.
With the electronic shutter, the EOS R8 focuses in as little as 0.03 seconds2, even at 40fps. This intelligent system detects and tracks a variety of subjects, including animals, vehicles and people, and detects the head, face and eye for precise focusing.
Advanced connectivity
With the built-in 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi® and Bluetooth® connectivity4, users can easily share their work, while the EOS R8 allows iPhone users to download and transact directly thanks to its iOS MFI certifiedTM 5 feature. The EOS R8 can be used as a webcam with support for USB video device class (UVC) / USB audio device class (UAC).
Small, light, everyday zoom lens
The RF 24-50mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM stands out as a small and light lens with 2x zoom and a focal length of 24-50mm. It helps users improve their photography and video skills, especially when shooting portraits, indoors or travelling. With its image stabilization feature, it allows content producers and photographers to shoot videos and photos in low light without the need for a tripod. Extra control in the customizable lens control ring allows users to easily switch between different modes to capture photos and videos like a pro.
