“Children Hand in Hand, Gifts to Hope and Fraternity!”
IMM City Theaters Children’s Education Unit students are leading a toy and book campaign with the title “Children, Hand in Hand, Gifts to Hope and Brotherhood” for their siblings affected by the earthquake.

Our children, who will be artists of the future, lead the development of sensitivity and awareness for their siblings, in the gift campaign launched with the title of “Children, Hand in Hand, Gifts to Hope and Brotherhood”. In this campaign, which will be a good example of our children’s solidarity, children living in Istanbul will be able to put both a gift book or a toy in their gift packages, as well as a letter expressing their feelings and thoughts that will console their earthquake-stricken siblings.

PHOSPHORUS CEMENT
Cevriye, who believes that she was born from the stars in the sky because she doesn’t know her parents, who grew up as a street child in the lap of the sea, and who does “performing art” in order to feed herself in Galata, is not an ordinary street girl, but actually the streets of Istanbul. She clings to life and love, thanks to a mysterious Man who comes across her that night, when she approaches death from illness and cold. This man, who does not look like any of the men Cevriye has known before and who addresses him as “you”, is actually a death row convict living in secret. Cevriye has become a completely different “person” since the day she met him. Cevriye, who does not give up this love despite imprisonment, exile, time and all kinds of troubles, will risk everything for her love.
In the play, Istanbul of the 1930s-40s is presented with rich depictions. The relationship between women, mothers, children, and shrewd young men with authority, who are trying to hold on to life in the back streets, prisons, and swamps of the neighborhoods, is conveyed through striking stories.
When Suat Derviş returned to Turkey in the early 60s, he was going through a difficult period in political, professional and financial terms. He offered his novel “Fosforlu Cevriye” to publishing houses, but unfortunately it was rejected every time. Suat Hanım’s great desire was to see this work played as a “musical” rather than being published. The first person she met for this was the young actress Gülriz Sururi.

PLAGUE

GYpsy Boxer
Written based on the tragic life of 1920s boxing star Johann Wilhelm Trollmann, the play is conveyed to the audience with the testimony of Hans, a fictional character. The duo, who met during their childhood, leaves the years behind with a strong bond of friendship. Gypsy boxer Ruki, who has become a star with his unique style, is exposed to Nazi Germany’s fascist policies and discrimination. Even though he is the German Champion, this title is not given to him and he is always condemned to lose.
